David Andrighetto – Founder & CEO

David Andrighetto - Founder & CEO

David Andrighetto has helmed Shasta Produce since 1986, growing the company from a two-produce bay space into the prominent produce distribution company that it is today. From an early age, David spent his summers working at the local produce market alongside his immigrant Italian father and came to know what it takes to move quality produce in the most efficient way possible to ensure that customers and consumers benefit from farm-fresh goodness.  David has guided Shasta through steady growth and expansion for nearly four decades and counting, building relationships with producers, customers, and other distributors. His dedication to excellence and community has been the cornerstone of Shasta Produce’s success.

A Legacy of Freshness

Our Heritage

While growing leaps and bounds, Shasta remains firmly rooted in the Andrighetto family tradition. The Andrighetto name has long been synonymous with integrity and service in Northern California produce circles from the time family patriarch Guido Andrighetto and his wife, Luiga, emigrated from the fertile Dolomite mountain foothills of Northern Italy six decades ago. Guido began work with his brother, Bruno, in San Francisco’s produce market in the 1950s.

From an early age, David and his siblings grew up tagging along with their father, Guido, working summers at the market and getting to know growers in California’s fields and orchards.

They learned how to efficiently handle quality produce to ensure customers enjoy farm-fresh goodness. Though Guido has passed, his legacy lives on in his children and grandchildren, who continue the Andrighetto family tradition.

Guido Andrighetto

“Our dad made everyone he did business with, from his farmers and growers to every one of his customers, walk away happy,” says David. “From an early age he instilled in us kids the need to be honest and forthright with the people we serve and we’ve carried on that tradition.”  David Andrighetto

Our Culture

Shasta Produce is a thriving marketplace where retailers, growers, and buyers converge. Our passion for produce fuels our commitment to quality and service, blending the traditions of open-air markets with modern distribution near San Francisco International Airport.

Over the past 30 years, we’ve grown into the largest distributor at the Golden Gate Produce Market, with operations in San Francisco, Oakland, and Los Angeles. Our skilled buyers build strong relationships with top farmers, ensuring premium produce. We inspect quality firsthand in the fields and work closely with customers to meet their needs.

At Shasta Produce, we don’t just distribute—we understand produce from farm to market, fostering strong partnerships with growers and customers alike.

Shasta Produce is proud to be a longstanding and active partner in The SF Market’s Food Recovery Program, supporting its mission to ensure that every Bay Area community has reliable access to fresh, high-quality produce. As a longstanding supplier and partner, Shasta has helped expand access to nutritious fruits and vegetables for neighbors experiencing food insecurity by contributing recoverable, culturally diverse produce to the program’s nonprofit network.

In 2025, this collective effort reached a major milestone, more than 10,000,000 pounds of fresh produce recovered, preventing it from entering the landfill and instead providing an estimated 8.4 million meals to individuals and families across the region. Shasta Produce is honored to be part of this impact and remains committed to supporting food access, community health, and a more sustainable Bay Area food system.

Our Mission

At Shasta Produce, our mission is to deliver the highest quality fruits and vegetables to the Bay Area and beyond. We build strong relationships with growers and customers, ensuring every product meets our strict standards of freshness and excellence. Committed to sustainability, innovation, and community, we continuously adapt to provide exceptional value and service in a dynamic marketplace.

We see our customers as partners, prioritizing their success with top-quality produce and reliable service, holding ourselves accountable for helping them thrive.
